New Border Control Measures

Almost all travel restrictions related to COVID-19 are lifted.
Visa exemption measures are resumed

All travelers are only required to show COVID-19 vaccination certificate* or COVID-19 negative test result*
*A valid COVID-19 Vaccination certificates of three doses of vaccines prescribed on the Emergency Use List of World Health Organization (WHO)
*Pre-departure COVID-19 test must be conducted within 72 hours prior to departure from the original country/region.

IMPORTANT NOTICE for travelers and returnees from China
(except Hong Kong).
The provisional measures from March 1, 2023
From March 1, please note that following provisional measures are effective for travelers and returnees from China.
- Up to approximately 20% of the travelers and returnees arriving from China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau) by direct flight are subject to an on-arrival COVID-19 test to take samples for genome sequence analysis.
- All travelers and returnees arriving from China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau) by direct flight are required to submit a certificate of negative result of COVID-19 test conducted within 72 hours prior to departure.
Register for "Visit Japan Web" before your entry
“Visit Japan Web” is a web service that people entering/returning to Japan can use easier procedures for Immigration, Customs and Quarantine.
Fast Track is a way to handle quarantine procedures from Visit Japan Web. If you use Fast Track, the verification procedures for your questionnaire responses and COVID test certificate or vaccination certificate can be handled before you enter Japan.
